Internet Explorer 8: Feed Subscription Instructions

IE8 does RSSWe love to have you here , but we understand that if you’re a heavy-duty researcher, it may be even more convenient to have the best links in your browser.

Here’s how you create a drop down menu in IE8, by creating a feed subscription:

Prerequisite: Turn on your Favorites Bar by clicking on the View menu, clicking on Toolbars, and placing a check next to the “Favorites Bar” option. Now we’re cookin’ with gas.

Step 1. Look for individual categories on our RSS Feed Page. Or, look for the little orange RSS logo on any of the linkrolls. We recommend either taking the “Top Links” or the links sorted by region.  Either way, just click the RSS link and it will bring you to Step 2.

Find a link! Cleeeeek it!

Step 2. Internet Explorer 8 knows you want to add a RSS feed and prompts you to Subscribe to it. Click on “Subscribe to this feed”.

Subscribe to the feed!

Rename your Feed... and Add to Favorites Bar!Step 3. When prompted, change the title to suit your topic, whether it’s “Campaign Finance” or “Crime.” Otherwise, it will produce a long unwieldy title. Make sure you check the box that says “Add to Favorites Bar”. Click “Subscribe”!

Step 4. You’re done. Start digging. You can add as many as you like. Internet Explorer 8 will refresh the list automatically every day (or on a schedule you choose). If we’ve added anything new in your category, it will automatically load for you.

Now rinse, repeat.
